Internship

If you are looking for an equine internship that involves cleaning stalls this is NOT the internship for you, but if you know how to ride well and are willing to work hard this could be a chance of a life time.

The only three prerequisites are that you are hard working, know how to ride well and be willing to learn. The average week starts Monday at the 7:00 am feeding. You feed the horses that will be ridden first so they finish first. After the horses are fed come to the house for breakfast. When we are done eating we go out saddle and start riding. We ride until 4-5:00 pm only stopping for lunch. At 5:00 you feed the horses and come in for dinner. The whole thing starts again the next morning at 7:00am.  Most Fridays and Saturdays we are gone to either rodeos or barrel races. Sunday (if we are not at a rodeo/barrel race) is a day of rest.

The position is UNPAYED. You can bring up to two horses (you pay for their hay, grain, shoeing, vet. etc) and receive 4 hours per week of private lessons on your horse. (Of course the other time we will be riding together and you will be learning that way as well.) Additionally, I offer room and board in my home if you choose to stay with us.

You do not have to have previous barrel racing experience only a love of horses, since that is the only thing in Southeastern Arizona. I do require health insurance, drivers license and a signed waiver. Additionally I require it to be taken as an internship through your college/university. (For some this is a good thing since they can get units and financial aid)
